busy books for busy kids

Do you have a little learner who loves worksheets? Same.

My first has never been a fan. She can see right through busy work before it's even in front of her. My youngest though? She eats it up! I'm sure I'm not the only one in the boat! Little siblings see their older siblings doing homework and want to do their own. (If only they knew what they were getting themselves into...)

I always find myself scrambling to get something to meet my little Bug's demands while also working through curriculum with my Peach. So I set out to make some busy books. Now Bug asks for her "pink folder" and is quite content while we focus.

Now I know that busy books are a little controversial. No, 3 and 4 year olds do not need to be practicing numbers and letters. There's a lot of pressure to have kids reading early, but the best thing for their little minds is to play and explore. The alphabet can wait! However, for some kiddos - like my little Bug - busy books are a form of play.

So here's what I included in my busy books:

Some name practice printables for filling or tracing....

Counting mats and color sorting...

Tic tac toe and shape matching...

Plus alphabet and number recognition.
